FAQs

  • Not formally, however you are encouraged only to pay what you can afford for most individual or drop-in classes, making them accessible to everyone. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

  • All classes have a suggested minimum fee with students encouraged to pay what you can reasonably afford. Please see specific classes for details. Nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. NOTE: Series classes do require a payment for the entire four-week series.

  • Classes are held in my backyard studio in North Oakland on the Berkeley border. Address provided after class registration.

  • While some of the yoga postures can be strenuous, I offer alternatives and helpful props for every posture allowing you to only go as deep as your body is comfortable with. A basic knowledge of yoga postures is helpful.

  • You should dress in something you can comfortably exercise in. We will be doing standing as well as seated and reclining postures.

  • Mindfulness is a non-judgmental way of paying attention to what’s happening moment-to-moment in and around us. In Mindful Meditation we learn to work with sensations, emotions and thoughts in an effort to bring acceptance to awareness.

  • It is helpful to set aside a regular time in your schedule to which you can reasonably commit. But any opportunity that works within your day is great.

  • It helps to decide how long you plan to sit before you begin. Most people practice meditation in 15-45 minute periods. If you are new to meditation, you might want to start with a five-ten minute sit and increase by five minute increments as you are motivated. Some people opt for shorter meditation periods twice a day.
